Retired Air Force Colonel, Randy, will let you use his equipment; and will guide and instruct you for 1/2 to full day excursions. What?! Yeah, I know. Pretty dang cool. I stumbled across another Alaska prospecting vacation adventure. It’s called Crow Creek Gold Mine. This one sounds awesome! They teach you how to do everything: pan, high-bank, sluice, dredge, and even metal detect. They’re just a few miles outside of Gridwood, AK which makes accommodations easy. Start planning your summer trip early this year! Give them a call.
Doing some internet surfing I stumbled across the Big Thunder Gold Mine in Keystone, SD. They have mine tours, museum tours and you can do some gold panning on site. Plus, they’ll even take you out for some real prospecting out into the hills, if you have the time.

What!? East Coast?? Yeah, over in New England Jim and his buddies are teaching classes on how to pan and sluice for gold. And look at the size of the nuggets. Pretty good, if you ask me. I would love to see that in my pan!
